If you stroll into any bookstore or even Amazon.com, you will notice something. Poker books have taken over! Its The Attack of the Poker Papers. It seems like new books on the game we love keep coming out every month. Everybody is trying to jump on the bandwagon and collect a slice of the Hold Em pie.
With all the titles, how do you separate the great ones from the ones that are just derivative and rehash the same old stuff?
Because lets face it, winning poker is winning poker. There are certain basic fundamental techniques and information that almost every poker book presents.
The question is, which book or books do you buy? I think it is hard to find one poker book that has absolutely everything you need to know to play winning hold em poker. Poker has so many subtleties and nuances that a book that covers all of them would have the heft of several copies of War and Peace.
So my suggestion is, find a book that covers the poker niche you are interested in learning about.

Purchase one of the books devoted to tournament play. Brand new to Texas Hold Em? Nab a beginning book like Basic Poker for Complete Nitwits. Find yourself in low limit hold em games? There are some books out there that cover low limits nicely.
